Bethesda Elementary News

Denise Van Burkleo’s first grade class has enjoyed mixing liquids and drop races in their Solids, Liquids and Gases unit.

The students are also becoming independent learners and building their stamina through the Daily 5 reading program. They are looking forward to our first annual school wide Backyard BBQ Celebration on Oct.5th.

Second Grader’s in Ryan Linton’s classes are currently investigating the lifecycle of various animals.  They have painted lady caterpillars in our rooms.  They have enjoyed examining the caterpillars and can’t wait to see what changes they undergo!”

Betty Myers’ kindergarten students are celebrating the beginning of fall by participating in lots of apple activities.  They are learning about the seasons of the tree and comparing the taste of different types of apples.  They are also sorting, graphing and weighing their apples.  Johnny Appleseed’s visit was a special treat.

Ms. Ryan’s fourth Grade students are taking a look at the Life Cycles for animals, plants and cells in their Science classes.  In Social Studies they are studying the history of Native Americans and their habits; very interesting.  In Literacy they are exploring the Genres of Literature, enriching our writing skills and reading…reading…reading!  Our first fieldtrip will be in October as we head to the Belle Meade Plantation.

Laura Warner’s Science Class has been learning about plants and animals. They are excited to begin working on their ecosystem project and energy pyramid. In Math, we are focusing on multiplication, multiplication, multiplication! We have had a blast playing multiplication games in class.
