IHS National Merit Scholarship Commended Students

Several Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise, and we are proud to congratulate the following IHS students who have been named Commended Students in the 2013 National Merit Scholarship Program.  Although they will not continue in the 2013 competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, these students placed among the top five percent of more than 1.5 million students who entered the competition.

A Letter of Commendation from IHS and National Merit Scholarship Corporation, which conducts the program, was presented to these scholastically talented seniors:

National Merit Scholarship Semifinalist

Mr. Duncan Brocklehurst has been named as a Semifinalist in the 2013 National Merit Scholarship Program.  As one of approximately 16,000 high school seniors nationwide, he has an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 8,400 National Merit Scholarships to be offered in the spring.  Independence is excited for and very proud of Duncan and this great accomplishment.  He is an outstanding student and an asset to our school.
