Ongoing Children’s Art Classes At The Longview Recreation Center

The Williamson County Parks and Recreation Department is pleased to announce a variety of ongoing arts and crafts classes for children in November at the Longview Recreation Center, 2909 Commonwealth Drive in Spring Hill. Classes require pre-registration and space may be limited. You may also receive department information by “liking” us on Facebook. The Longview Recreation Center is a public facility, here to benefit the community. Anyone, including out-of-county residents, can register for and participate in classes and events held at Longview, even if you don’t have a facility pass!

DEB’Z KID’Z ART

In this on-going fun-filled class, participants create a practice drawing using basic shapes. Then they build on by using a variety of methods including markers, colored pencils, pastels and watercolors to create a work of art! Deb’z Kid’z Art will meet on Thursdays, November 1-29 (skip 11/22) from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Longview Recreation Center, 2909 Commonwealth Drive in Spring Hill. The class fee is $45 per month. SUNDAY’Z WITH DEB’Z

Join Miss Deb for a lazy Sunday afternoon of making random art, including painting, drawing, chalk, spin art and more! This class for ages 3-7 will meet on Sundays, November 4-25 from 1:30-3:00 p.m. at the Longview Recreation Center, 2909 Commonwealth Drive in Spring Hill. The fee is $24 per class, and the supply fee is $12 for the month. OPEN ART

Drop off the kids ages 3 and up (must be potty trained) for a fun morning of art while you work out! Each Monday there will be an easy project for your child to participate in, while learning some art! For more information, contact Lauren at (615)302-0971 x. 25. This free program is offered Mondays, November 5-26 (skip 11/12) from 8-10 a.m.

DEB’Z CLAY CREATIONZ

Join Miss Deb to learn how to make small clay creatures and jewelry out of sculpey polymer clay! No experience is needed. This class for ages 6-12 will meet on Tuesday, November 6 from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Longview Recreation Center, 2909 Commonwealth Drive in Spring Hill. The cost is $10, and the supply fee is $5. LITTLE FINGERS

This creative arts program is for children ages 2-4 along with a parent. This special time together will be a chance to make some very fun, season-themed projects! Parents and guardians will need to fully assist their children.  This class will meet Tuesdays, November 6-27 from10:30 -11:30 a.m. at the Longview Recreation Center, 2909 Commonwealth Drive in Spring Hill. STICKY FINGERS PRESCHOOL CLUB

The “Sticky Fingers Preschool Club” is a wonderful program for children ages 3-6 at the Longview Recreation Center, 2909 Commonwealth Drive in Spring Hill. “Sticky Fingers” is a fun place to explore a variety of crafting experiences.  A different theme, with coordinating activities using letters, shapes, numbers and colors will be offered each month. Sticky Fingers provides your child with a creative supplement to preschool by enhancing fine motor and developmental skills necessary to begin school. Sticky Fingers will be held on Tuesdays, November 6-27 from 8:30 –10 a.m. Wednesday classes will meet November 7-28 from 8:30 –10 a.m. or 10:30 a.m. –12 p.m. The cost for each 4-week class is $24. MANGA DRAWING

Discover the world of Manga! In this class, students are introduced to basic drawing techniques to create wonderful illustrations of Manga”Japanese” style comics, from girl and boy teen characters to the popular Chibis! Students develop the basic drawing principles of line, shape, form, texture, expression and body language. This class will meet Tuesday and Thursday, November 6 and 8 or November 13 and 15 from 4:15-5:45 p.m. at the Longview Recreation Center, 2909 Commonwealth Drive in Spring Hill. COUNTDOWN TO CHRISTMAS-ORNAMENT WREATH

Get your Christmas projects done early this year! In this class, students ages 7-12 years old, and teens will make a holiday wreath made out of ornaments. The class will meet on Saturday, November 17 from 8:30-10 a.m. at the Longview Recreation Center, 2909 Commonwealth Drive in Spring Hill. The class fee is $5, and the supply fee is $25. CHILDREN’S POTTERY WORKSHOP

During this two-day class, students will create their own pottery pieces! All completed pieces will be available to pick up one week after the last class date. No experience is necessary. This class for ages 6-12 years old will meet on Mondays, November 19 and 26 from 4:30 p.m.-6 p.m. at the Longview Recreation Center, 2909 Commonwealth Drive in Spring Hill. The class fee is $25, and the supply fee is $20. To register, call (615)302-0971, ext. 10.

ENJOY CAKE DECORATING-INTRODUCTION TO ROLLED FONDANT

In this introductory class, students learn how to handle and tint fondant as well as cover a cake and add simple fondant decorations to it. This class will meet on Tuesday, November 27 from 9:30-11:30 a.m. at the Longview Recreation Center, 2909 Commonwealth Drive in Spring Hill. The class fee is $15, and the supply fee is $10 (payable to the instructor). To register, please call (615)302-0971, ext. 10.

CREATE A CLASS

Love art, but can’t make it to a class? Gather at least 4 children and pick your project. All classes are available for your private class from cake decorating or pottery to drawing, painting or crochet. Call Lauren Nichols at (615)302-0971, ext. 25. The Longview staff can also help you arrange a custom-made event or party for groups of children or adults at Longview.

ENJOY CAKE DECORATING-PARTIES

Celebrating an upcoming birthday and looking for a fun, unique party? Schedule a cake decorating party!  After a brief demonstration of some basic techniques, each party guest will get their own small cake to decorate and take home. This party is available to parties with 4-12 guests in attendance. All supplies, set-up and clean-up are included. Each party will be 2 hours long and will be held at the Longview Recreation Center, 2909 Commonwealth Drive in Spring Hill. The class fee is $15, and the supply fee is $10 per participant (payable to the instructor). To schedule your party, please call (615)302-0971, ext. 10.

CELEBRATE! ARTS AND CRAFTS BIRTHDAY PARTIES

The Williamson County Parks and Recreation Department is pleased to offer themed birthday parties for children. If you are looking for an affordable, fresh place to celebrate your child’s birthday, look no further! Boys and girls ages 3-12 can celebrate the big day with an arts and crafts party at the Longview Recreation Center, 2909 Commonwealth Drive in Spring Hill. Schedule your child’s birthday party today! Parents can develop a theme with the instructor that truly fits their child’s personality and interests. The class fee is $5 per child, and the supply fee is $20 for 10 children. A fee of $20 per 10 children is for craft supplies. The parent may provide any food (cupcakes/cake), drink and/or paper goods. Optional coordinating party supplies and additional crafts are available for an extra supply fee. Parties are available any day and party length varies based on room availability. The instructor is Deborah Nelson.
