Local Duo Turns Love For Spring Hill Into T-Shirt Fundraiser

[ 0 ] November 9, 2012 |

Spring Hill has historically been known for its Civil War heritage, its GM manufacturing plant, and its affordable housing.  Those who live there enjoy the small-town feel and relative convenience to Brentwood and Nashville.  Two local residents, however, feel that Spring Hill deserves more than just casual appreciation.  So when Kevin Robinson and Scott Hancock needed a fundraiser idea, they turned their love for Spring Hill into a unique “I Love Spring Hill” t-shirt.

“Both of our wives are involved in the planning of WellSpring Christian Church’s annual women’s retreat,” said Hancock.  “They use fundraisers to help lower each woman’s registration cost and to provide full scholarships to those who might not otherwise be able to attend.  Our church talks a lot about loving your neighbor and getting involved in your community, so it seemed natural to base this year’s fundraiser on our love for Spring Hill.”

Hancock created a humorous list of things to love about Spring Hill and added suggestions from other friends in the city.  The list includes items such as “finding out that you guessed the wrong speed limit on Beechcroft Road,” “theme park rumors,” “wishing for a movie theater,” and other idiosyncrasies unique to the city.  He then turned to Kevin Robinson, a longtime friend and founder of Spring Hill-based Kevin Robinson Creative, to bring the idea to life as a t-shirt.

“We’re not comparing Spring Hill to New York City,” said Robinson, referencing the iconic “I Love NY” campaign.  “Our city has its own personality, so I gave the shirt a distinct look and feel.  I also added some graphic flourishes to the list on the back to draw in the reader.”

Around 80 shirts have already been sold.  “We’re happy that the funds raised through sales of the shirt are going to a good cause,” said Hancock.  “It’s also nice to see the reaction to the shirt when you wear it around town—it’s a great conversation-starter,” added Robinson.

The “I Love Spring Hill” t-shirt is available for $12 at www.WeLoveSpringHill.com.  Made from an ultra-soft cotton/polyester blended fabric, it is available in sizes extra-small through extra-extra-large.
