Therapeutic Recreation At The Longview Recreation Center

The Williamson County Parks and Recreation Department is pleased to announce the following Therapeutic programs in January at the Longview Recreation Center, 2909 Commonwealth Drive in Spring Hill. Therapeutic programs are led by Therapeutic Recreation Specialists who assist people with disabilities to develop leisure and social skills for participation in community activities. Some programs require pre-registration and space may be limited. You may also receive department information by “liking” us on Facebook. The Longview Recreation Center is a public facility, here to benefit the community. Anyone, including out-of-county residents, can register for and participate in classes and events held at Longview, even if you don’t have a facility pass!

POTLUCK AND BINGO

The Therapeutics division will have its potluck and Bingo dinner from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 22 at the Longview Recreation Center, 2909 Commonwealth Drive in Spring Hill. Participants will enjoy a delicious meal and have fun playing Bingo! Williamson County Parks and Recreation will provide the meat, drinks and Bingo prizes.

Participants are asked to bring a side dish or dessert to share. This PALS (People at Leisure with Support) therapeutic recreation program is for young adults and up. A caregiver is required to stay with those needing support. Caregivers are asked to register as well. Please register through January 21 by calling (615)302-0971, ext. 2210. This is a FREE event. Bingo and prizes are for participants only.

SUPER SATURDAY RESPITE

The Therapeutics Division of the Williamson County Parks and Recreation Department invites you to a fun day of games, music, swimming, Wii, crafts and more during the Super Saturday Respite from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on Saturday, January 26.

Open to Williamson County residents ages 6-23 with special needs only, this program provides a day of fun-filled therapeutic recreation. Participants will need a swimsuit, towel, lunch and drink. Personal care is provided. The cost is $20 per person. Register by calling (615)302-0971, ext. 2210. Phone messages are not accepted. Registration is November 26-December 10 or until the program is full.

To hold a reservation, payment must be received within 5 days of the initial registration. Payments may be mailed or made in person at the Longview Recreation Center, 2909 Commonwealth Drive in Spring Hill. Refunds are available through the last day of registration.

AQUAMOTION

Is the pain of everyday living getting you down? Then get up and join our class! Aquamotion provides an opportunity for people with arthritis and post rehab conditions improve flexibility, coordination, and muscle strength. No registration required! Please pay the front desk before the class! Aquamotion is held every Tuesday and Thursday from 1-2 p.m. in the indoor pool at the Longview Recreation Center at Spring Hill, 2909 Commonwealth Drive. For ages 55 and over, Aquamotion is $2 and for ages 54 and under, the class fee is $3. For more information, please call (615)302-0971, ext. 2210.

SENIOR GAME DAY

Here’s your chance to let your inner child play! The staff at the Longview Recreation Center, 2909 Commonwealth Drive in Spring Hill will be opening up our teen game room to Senior Adults, ages 55 and up for open play time! Drop in and shoot pool, challenge a friend to a game of ping pong, get a good card game going or practice the Wii! Please join us for some casual recreation on Mondays, January 14-March 18 (skip 1/21) from 9-11 a.m. This is a FREE program. For more information, please call (615)302-0971, ext. 2210.

SENIOR POTLUCK AND BINGO

The Senior Potluck and Bingo luncheon is from 12-2 p.m. on Tuesday, January 15 at the Longview Recreation Center, 2909 Commonwealth Drive in Spring Hill. After lunch, have fun playing Bingo for prizes! This is a FREE activity, and Williamson County Parks and Recreation will provide the meat and drinks.
