SSMSMustangsLogoIn sixth grade language arts, students are delving into Fever 1793, a historical fiction novel by Laurie Halse Anderson.

Students are exploring the novel through literature circles, focusing on figurative language, summarizing, text-to-self connections, visuals, and new vocabulary.

Students have been investigating electricity in science. They have built series circuits and parallel circuits in class. In addition, students have been testing items to determine if they are insulators or conductors.

Math students will end the year learning rules for the four operations with integers in preparation for seventh grade. Their knowledge of the number line from earlier in the year will help them greatly as they tackle this new skill.

For social studies, students will be creating their very own country. They will use what they have learned this year about government, religion, economics, and geography to create their country.
