Donation to Women’s Center Fund to Assist Cancer Patients

[ 0 ] June 19, 2013 |

Representatives of the Maury County Gun Club recently presented a donation to the Maury Regional Health Care Foundation’s Women’s Center Fund to assist women who are battling and recovering from cancer. The club donated approximately $2,300 in proceeds from its “Shoot for a Cure” breast cancer awareness event on May 11.

“This is the second time that the gun club has hosted an event to benefit women in our region who are facing cancer,” said Foundation Executive Director Joe Kilgore. “We truly appreciate the efforts of organizations such as theirs for making a difference in the lives of others.”

The Women’s Center Fund provides cancer patients with wigs, various headpieces, lymphedema garments, gas cards and camisoles during their medical treatment. The fund also provides mammograms for patients who cannot afford one on their own. During 2012, the fund assisted approximately 150 women in the counties served by Maury Regional Medical Center and its affiliates.
