STAAR Theater Visual Arts Program for Children, “Mini-Monet”

[ 0 ] June 22, 2013 |

The Southern Tennessee Area Arts Repertory Theater (STAAR), a non-profit located on the public square in downtown Pulaski, Tennessee, is offering basic painting classes to children ages 7-11 from 3:30 to 4:30 beginning Thursday, July 11, 2013, with a portion of the proceeds to benefit the theater and historic Pulaski Opera House. The 4-week series will cover the basics from mixing colors and values to completing your very own masterpiece. No prior experience necessary. Class will meet on July 11, 18, 25, and August 1.

“We have worked with children for many years in our theater productions,” says Tammy Pierchoski, STAAR CEO. “However, many of our actors, set designers, and others have a gift for visual arts that we can now help cultivate with the addition of artist Susan E Jones to the STAAR family.”

“We are all artists,” says Susan E Jones, Visual Arts Program Director for STAAR, “yet so many of us suppress our creative sides. I enjoy working with kids who aren’t afraid to embrace their inner artists.”

The fee for each 4-week segment is $80 and a portion of the proceeds benefit STAAR. A supplies list will be provided upon registration and pre-made supply kits are available at a discount at Jerry’s Artarama-Antioch or can be purchased locally at Wal-Mart or Hobby Lobby. Easels will be provided during the classes.

Call Susan for more details or to register, 615-216-5907. Space is limited to six students. Sponsored by Southern Tennessee Area Arts Repertory.
