Pinkston Slated to Head Pupil Transportation
Maury County Public Schools announces Garth Pinkston as Supervisor of Transportation for the district. He brings nearly 40 years of experience in education that includes work in administration and athletics.
Since January of this year, Pinkston has been training new school bus drivers and working with transportation safety for the district.
“Our bus drivers are the best and I am looking forward to stepping into this role and continuing my work with them and with transportation safety. I’ve been fortunate to serve the district in the classroom and in leadership positions so I’m ready for this next chapter,” Pinkston said.
Pinkston was hired and recommended to the superintendent by an operations-based selection committee consisting of the assistant superintendent of operations, parents, teachers and staff, and administrators.
Prior to his work in pupil transportation, Pinkston was Project Lead the Way teacher at Cox Middle School and a long-time athletic director. He also served as a school administrator in Maury County Schools at Cox Middle and Central High.
As Supervisor of Transportation, Pinkston will be responsible for the design and supervision of the district-wide transportation system. This includes determining routes, stops, time schedules, along with recruiting , hiring, training and evaluating all drivers. He will work closely with the highway department and county maintenance as he will oversee all district vehicles. Assistant Superintendent of Operations Eric Perryman said about Pinkston’s appointment, “Garth has been doing great work for transportation as driver trainer and managing aspects of safety. I am confident that this will continue in his expanded role.”
Pinkston earned his B.S degree in Education from Lipscomb University and his M.S. degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from Trevecca Nazarene University.
