We all need a little Christmas — and we could use your help this year! Here’s your chance to be involved in a newly re-imagined adaptation of Charles Dickens’ class “Christmas Carol.” Set in downtown Columbia in 1937, the story unfolds during the darkest days of the Great Depression. The familiar characters are still here, but now recast as Tennesseans of all walks of life, each struggling through hard times.

Auditions will be held October 18,19 from 6-8pm in the Building Blocks School For The Arts theatre located at 1309 South Main Street in Columbia. We are looking for actors of all ages who are eager to bring these characters to life. For a detailed breakdown of the roles, visit www.buildingblockarts.com.

For the audition, we ask that you prepare a 1-minute dramatic monologue of your choice. If you sing, please be ready with a song. Rehearsals will be at 6:30pm  Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays  1-5pm beginning on October 21st Performances will take place on December 21st at 2 pm and 7 pm and 2 pm on the 22nd, at a venue to be announced.

We hope this play will become a cherished annual Christmas event for families of Maury County and beyond. The productions is being directed by Sherry Johnson, founder of the Building Block School for the Arts, working from a script by Carter Crocker, an Emmy-winning writer of children’s animation. Each performance will include music by the gifted bluegrass artists, the Murphy Ridge Band.

Please prepare a 1 minute monologue and if you sing 16 bars of a song that best showcases your range.
