Event Description

Now in its third year, the Grapple on the Gridiron wrestling tournament provides the largest off-season live wrestling opportunity in which wrestlers of all ages may compete.

The Grapple on the Gridiron is an evening event that gets its name because it is held on the football field at Independence High School around the first of June each year.  “Most wrestling tournaments are held inside in the school gymnasium, so holding the event outside in the early summer provides a fun and unique environment for wrestlers and spectators,” Independence High School head wrestling Coach Jared Grindstaff reports.

Not only is the Grapple a fun event, but also it benefits both the Tennessee Wrestling Hall of Fame and the Independence Eagles Wrestling Club.
