Opioids: A Family Crisis with guest speaker Dr. Cory L. Calendine
The Harpeth River United Methodist Women will present a social action event on Sunday, April 28th at 2 pm at Thompson’s Station United Methodist Church.
The public is welcome to attend to hear guest speaker Dr. Cory L. Calendine speak about the opioid crisis and its affect on families. In 2016, there were 1,186 opioid-related overdose deaths in Tennessee—a rate of 18.1 deaths per 100,000 persons—higher than the national rate of 13.3 deaths per 100,000 persons.
Dr. Calendine, a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon with Bone & Joint Institute in Franklin will lead the discussion. Dr. Calendine is dedicated to staying on the cutting-edge of his field, while also volunteering for several non-profits in Middle Tennessee.
