Event Description

Photography Workshop for Beginners with Sarah B. Gilliam

Ready to figure out those camera settings? Sarah B. Gilliam will give you a quick and easy walk through of your gear and how to use it. Whether you are trying to photograph your kids at the ball park or come up with content for your small business, this class will give you the tools you need to take better photos. Totally hands on and at a pace you can follow!

This course is designed for beginner photographers currently shooting in AUTO mode. This course will give you the tools to use your digital SLR camera in a completely manual setting to get the shots you want.

Students will learn basic camera function: Aperture, ISO and Shutter Speed. This course is completely hands-on and will also include basic compositing and natural lighting.

Students are required to bring their own camera. We recommend a DSLR (Canon or Nikon) camera.

*** Before this class: Students, please look through your camera’s manual (print or PDF version) before this class to find where your aperture, ISO and shutter speed buttons are located on your camera.

This workshop will take place Saturday, March 23, from 1pm – 3pm on Level 1 of the Columbia Arts Building.

About Your Artisan Instructor: Sarah B Gilliam has extensive experience teaching photography and has taught privately as well as publicly for universities such as The Art Institute. She is a freelance photographer with nationally published work, although she also makes time to assist local businesses and artisans. Sarah is a resident artist at the CAB with a photography studio that is housed on Level 1 of the Columbia Arts Building. She is passionate about supporting Columbia and we are thrilled to have her joining the CAB to teach her extremely popular classes once again!
