Event Description

Tails and Trails 5k for the Cure is a fun run/walk event for the runners and dog lovers at heart.  The event is geared toward dog owners, pet lovers and athletes of all ages. Tails and Trails 5k for the Cure is a fundraising event honoring the life-long contributions of our canine caregivers.
These dogs demonstrate unconditional love, joy, compassion and no judgement to cancer survivors’ abilities or appearance.  It is an opportunity to join your community put your best paw forward in helping raise money for the American Cancer Society.

Race the trails in the 5k (3.1 mile run) or go for a casual 1 mile stroll with your canine companion  at the Tails and Trails 5k for the Cure on Saturday, August 4, 2018. Whether you are racing with your four-legged companion or just walking the trails to support at good cause, Tails and Trails 5k for the Cure is a fun run/walk event for the runners and dog lovers at heart.

General Information

The first 150 people to register get a shirt and first 300 dogs will receive a bandanna

Advance Registration

$35 – Adult 5k

$15 – Youth 5k (Ages 6-14)

$20 – Adult 1-Mile Walk

$15 – Youth 1 Mile Walk (Ages 6-14)

 

Day of Registration

$40 – Adult 5k

$15 – Youth 5k (Ages 6-14)

$25 – Adult 1 Mile Walk

$15 – Youth 1 Mile Walk (Ages 6-14)

RACE START: THE Runners 5K STARTS AT 8:00 A.M. Line up according to pace with faster people in front, walkers behind. This is not a chip-timed event.

THE Walkers 5K starts at 8:10 A.M. Larger and faster dogs should line up first. Owners are responsible for keeping their dogs “in line” at all times

Non-retractable leashes are required **Please note that you must not pull your dog along the course**

THE 1 MILE EVENT STARTS AT 8:45 A.M. Larger and faster dogs should line up first. Owners are responsible for keeping their dogs “in line” at all times. There is no chip timing for the 1 Mile event.

 

PACKET PICK UP:

• Race Morning Packet Pick-up begins at 7:00 a.m. at the race venue

BATHROOMS/WATER STATIONS: There are 2 restrooms at the start/finish area and water stations along the course for runners and dogs.

WEATHER: The race will take place rain or shine unless conditions are unsafe. This is a charity event. In the unlikely event of cancellation, there will be no refunds or rain make-up. We appreciate your donation to American Cancer Society.

COURSE: All races will be run on soft grass and gravel of Harlinsdale Farm. Race marshals will be stationed along the route to direct the runners and traffic. The 5K and 1mi courses will close no later than 9:30 a.m. The race course is measured but not certified.

 STROLLERS ARE PERMITTED

RACE OFFICIALS AND RACE VETERINARIANS RESERVE THE RIGHT TO REFUSE ENTRY TO ANY DOG THAT MAY PROVE HAZARDOUS TO OTHERS OR WHOSE PHYSICAL CONDITION APPEARS TO BE IN JEOPARDY BEFORE OR DURING THE EVENT.
