The Tragedies and Trends that Shaped the City of Spring Hill
Did you know Spring Hill used to be Chickasaw land? It was the first town in Maury Co. to be founded a treaty made in1806 and it’s been reinvented many times over since then.
Tom Price from Maury County Archives will share pictures and stories of what Spring Hill was like from the beginning and when it had a thriving business community and downtown area. You won’t believe how Main Street used to look.
Find out what tragedies changed all that, how churches and schools have always played a major role, and the ways the town revived with the influx of Saturn workers. He’ll also give his perspective on how our city has changed again recently. You’ll have a new appreciation for our adaptive community. Refreshments will be served. Please sign up for headcount.
This is the first in a monthly series of talks (4th Tuesday of the month) presented by the Spring Hill Historic Society and the Spring Hill Public Library.
