Tummy Time for Mommy & Me

Event Description

Join pediatric occupational therapist, Cassie Kleinfelder, in this intro to the TummyTime Method for pre-crawling babies 3 weeks and up!

Does your baby seem to hate ‘tummy time’, or appear to prefer turning their neck to one side most of the time? Does your baby have a bit of a flat head from back sleeping? Do they have a history of tongue tie or problems with gas and reflux? Are you looking for techniques to help them?

Tummy Time for Mommy & Me is a fun and supportive group that expands your infant’s comfort with spending time on their belly. Tummy time maximizes the physical development of head control and head turning in preparation for crawling, and helps babies increase their time on their tummies in a calm and relaxed state. Parents will learn how to help their baby move in and out of tummy time at a comfortable and successful pace.

During the group you will learn about infants’ range of comfort or discomfort while on their tummy, along with how to better understand and soothe your baby by connecting with them.

Practicing tummy time routinely will help prevent or improve head flattening due to back sleeping, and is helpful for some breastfeeding/ latching issues, neck weakness or turning problems (torticollis), digestion problems, or babies who don’t seem to like tummy time.

If there is enough interest, my dream would be to lead several 4-part series of groups so that we can grow a supportive community of Mommies (or Daddies, or grandparents, siblings, etc.) and babies learning about Tummy Time and development. More about that after this class! Please email me with any questions prior to class – cjkleinfelder@gmail.com!

***Please bring a quilt or blanket for your baby and any preferred toys they enjoy. Nursing or feeding baby during class is welcomed and encouraged.
