At 8:05 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 3, the Spring Hill Police Department (SHPD) was dispatched to Burger King at 4883 Port Royal Road in response to an active shooter in progress. Upon arrival, officers were notified that a victim was inside Burger King with multiple gun shots to his body.
The victim was transported via LifeFlight to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in stable condition.
Officers were advised the shooter had left the scene on foot heading south toward Reserve Boulevard. Officers later apprehended the suspect, Antares C. Heller Garcia, on Reserve Boulevard.
Upon investigation, the victim and suspect were both Burger King employees. Witnesses stated that an argument ensued between the two and the suspect charged at the victim, brandished a gun and fired multiple times. No other employees or patrons were injured during the altercation.
Detectives and officers remained on scene collecting evidence throughout the night. Mr. Garcia was transported to Maury County Jail and charged with Attempted Murder, Aggravated Assault and Reckless Endangerment. Mr. Garcia resides in Spring Hill.
The Spring Hill Police Department wants to ensure the public that this was an isolated incident and no further suspects are being sought. SHPD acted swiftly in obtaining information and apprehending Mr. Garcia before any further incidences occurred.
SHPD thanks all law enforcement agencies that assisted in securing the scene, locating witnesses and searching for potential evidence, including the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Brentwood Police Department, Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, Maury County Sheriff’s Office, Franklin Police Department and Columbia Police Department.
