Seven organizations being recognized for their efforts to promote economic growth and programs that support a sustainable community
On July 19, the General Motors Spring Hill Manufacturing plant will present a total of $80,000 in grants to support seven organizations within the local community. Their initiatives provide much-needed STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) educational programs, job training and economic empowerment.
This year, the GM Community Impact Grants program, funded by GM Corporate Giving, will provide nearly $2 million in funding to hundreds of organizations in 47 communities where GM employees live and work. Through these community grants, GM is building stronger communities and enriching the lives of its neighbors.
This year Grant Recipients include: Gentry’s Educational Foundation, Boys & Girls Club of Maury County, Habitat for Humanity, Go Tech! (South Central Tennessee Workforce Alliance Inc.), Imagination Library (South Central Tennessee Workforce Alliance Inc.) Tennessee Environmental Council, and Tennessee CASA Association
About General Motors Corporate Giving Since 1976, the General Motors Foundation has donated nearly $1 billion to U.S. charities, educational organizations and disaster relief efforts worldwide. In 2016, the company began transitioning from a U.S.-focused, foundation-based giving model to a global social impact strategy to promote economic growth around the world. This strategy will advance STEM education, improve vehicle and road safety and build sustainable communities, with a special focus where GM has business units and employee presence around the world.
